WEEK II: 7th -11th March 2016

DAY 5

On Monday 7th march 2016 at 9am – 12noon, we visit Stratford and USS library. Kulvinder introduce us to Florence Achen-Owor who is the head of Stratford library. Official tour of Stratford Campus, University of East London guided by Ms. Kulvinder Kalsey. We were briefed in detail about the campus and other facilities available at the campus such as Library, Computer Centre, etc. All fellows spent time in learning about available resources and services and learned about the different facilities available at the campus.

 

@1pm – 5pm, the Olympic Park, Westfield Mall Tour were there are lot of building, constructions and renovations was going on. The Stratford Bus and train (railway) station was beautiful and very busy.

 

DAY 6

On Tuesday, 8^th march 2016, Continuous tour of Stratford library. A specific tour was arranged with Ms. Florence Achen-Owor, Campus Manager, Library & Learning Services at Stratford Campus. Ms. Florence gave detailed information about library resources and services. It was very unique experience learning the technologies involved in order to provide the best services to its patrons. There are two library in university of east London, they are docklands library (docklands campus) and Stratford library (Stratford campus).

@2pm meeting with Madam Gurdish who gave us some words of advice and regarding general instructions to be followed strictly in order to complete the fellowship smoothly.

 

 

DAY 7

On Wednesday, 9^th march 2016 @ 9am we were in the training room in the library do monk test for the Ms Access and Project Management in preparation for my ECDL exam.

 
 

DAY 8

Thursday 10^th march 2016 at 9am - 12non. We were introduced to Office 365: a product of Microsoft – to work smartly using OneNote, Lync-Skype, outlook and OneDrive. Session was taken by Ms. Kulvinder Kalsey followed by demonstration to use it effectively

 

1pm -5pm, Study and practice ECDL by learning the other available modules in it and attended the exam as well.

 

 

 

DAY 9

Friday 11^th march 2016 at 9am-11am, We were taught how to Create WEB APPLICATION using JOOMLA(Open Source-Content Management System) by D.P. Tripathi.

 11am -1pm, I had a meeting with Chris and David on HR and PAYROLL (STAFF &PENSION) combine in room EB2.17A. They use iTrent application software for their HR & PAYROLL, provided by  a Consultant Midland (MHR). I got to known that  University  of East London is a private university that are self-sustaining through Grants, school fees, internally generated revenue and allocation from British Government. Virtually all their process are done online, for example leave application, Payslip etc.
 

@2pm, East Building room EB1.40, we had a session with Portfolio & Project Management Office (PMO) staff  led by Mr Matthew McCann, Programme Manager, IT Services. They present a topic on IT Governing Board for Infrastructure. they talk about Technology enhance learning, enterprise project office. the objectives include robust but flexible project delivery process, strategic alignment, effective resource control, delivery values for money, benefit realization etc. they further explain that the PMO office team include Business Relation Manager(x4), project/programme manager(x3), Business analyst(x4), Test Lead(x1) and Senior Program MO (x1). they talk about TIND - New cloud platform for digital library and resources, Resource Recovery (in library), soft skill etc.
